There are 211 shelters in the Czech Republic, providing temporary accommodation for roughly 5,400 people. Who lives there, and how did they end up in these places?

The stories differ, but the systemic causes tend to stay the same.
Unequal access to education, the structural vulnerability of young women, and racial prejudice. We need to stop presenting the pathological aspects of our so-called “social security system” as personal failure. To stop locking basic human rights behind a paywall. To stop conditioning access to dignified housing on meeting requirements that are nearly impossible to fulfill without basic security.
